MAN'S BEST FRIEND…
I love animals more than I love people. Especially dogs. Dogs are always happy to see you. They don't criticize or judge or condemn or disagree or disappoint or get mad at you- ever. There's nothing better than coming home from a long trip or a horrible day at work to be greeted by your dog... Whether you've been gone for 5 minutes or 5 days, a dog makes you feel like a million bucks every time you walk through the door. Dogs aren't materialistic, or picky, or snooty, or hard to please. They love you through the best of times and the worst of times. Whether you're rich or poor, happy or sad, content or stressed out, a dog will always love you. If your downright depressed, overwhelmed with grief and despair and hopelessness, there is NO BETTER friend in the world to have by your side than a dog. They don't ask questions, they don't take sides, they don't tell you to "snap out of it" or "just BE HAPPY and put on a SMILE." They don't raise one eyebrow and tilt their head at you in a condescending manner or imply that you're being "lazy" because it's two o'clock in the afternoon and you're still in bed. Dogs don't make you feel embarrassed or ashamed if you're having a bad day. They don't care if you haven't showered or brushed your teeth- they love you EXACTLY THE WAY YOU ARE. Even if you're full of self-pity, dogs don't make you feel guilty or selfish or ungrateful by reminding you of all the children in the world without arms or legs or feet. Which, of course, is horrible to think about and if I could snap my fingers and make every child on the planet feel happy and healthy (and give them back those missing limbs!) OF COURSE I WOULD. But I can't. So now, on top of feeling sorry for myself, now I'm feeling sorry for all of the little kids in the world without limbs. I'm getting off track. To sum it all up, having a dog means you'll never be alone. Dogs truly are
Please, rescue a pet from your local animal shelter...
And always spay or neuter. (Thank you!)
